Challenges Faced by Women in Cross Border Trade Between Arua, DRC & South Sudan

Challenges:

1. Access to Resources: Women face challenges in accessing financial resources, markets, and information, limiting their ability to engage in cross-border trade effectively. Addressing these access barriers is crucial for fostering inclusive economic growth.

2. Gender-Based Violence: In some cases, women engaged in cross-border trade face gender-based violence or harassment. Ensuring the safety and security of women traders is essential for their well-being and continued participation in cross-border activities.

3. Legal and Regulatory Barriers: Women traders encounter legal and regulatory barriers that hinder their ability to conduct business across borders. Simplifying trade procedures and addressing discriminatory policies can enhance women's participation in cross-border trade.

4. Infrastructure Challenges: Inadequate transportation and logistics infrastructure pose challenges for women engaged in cross-border trade. Improving infrastructure can reduce the cost and time associated with trade activities.

5. Limited Market Access: Some women face difficulties accessing larger markets due to factors such as lack of information, limited resources, or discriminatory practices. Efforts to promote market access for women traders are crucial and providing the necessary legal information needed for trade is central to grant market access.
